Article 11
Article 11- Academic Freedom and Controversial Issues states very clearly that we must present ALL sides of an issue if we present our position to the students.
Articles 11.1 through 11.3.3 describe in depth the process for teaching such issues. Articles 11.4 through 11.5 give a very detailed and orderly process which must be followed when a complaint arises.
In light of the Jay Bennish case, I encourage all of you to read this article very carefully, and be aware of the due process afforded you.
Two other points, it is the advice of SVVEA that if you would see or know that a student is taping, you should consider asking the purpose and then request a copy of such taping.
Also, please remember that taping or video taping a teacher by district administrators for purposes of performance evaluation is prohibited, unless you have given permission to do so.
If you have any questions, please call the office. We will be glad to discuss them with you.
